Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie's continued absence from the Today Show finally explained

Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie have been missing from the Today Show all week, while Craig Melvin and Sheinelle Jones have held their spots.

The couple's absence was only explained in Thursday's episode, when Craig told viewers at the beginning of the show, “Hoda and Savannah are spending time with their families.”

Hoda and Savannah both have small children and enjoyed the summer holidays to the fullest.

While Hoda remains low-key on social media, Savannah shared a glimpse into her family's vacation earlier this week.

She posted a photo montage of her family posing on a bench at their vacation resort and wrote: “Capturing the last of summer.”

She also added an “out of office sticker” to the footage. Earlier this month, the doting mother took a week off, which coincided with her daughter Vale's tenth birthday.

She shared a loving tribute to Vale on social media along with a selection of pictures of her from the past year, writing: “Ten years of this magical girl – my whole heart and soul. Happy birthday dearest Vale!”

Savannah is not one to sit still for long and spent most of the last week outside the Today Show Studios while covering the National Democratic Convention in Chicago for NBC.

The journalist is accustomed to traveling for work and often flies overnight to cover world events both in the United States and overseas.

Hoda, meanwhile, recently celebrated her 60th birthday with her beloved daughters Haley and Hope at home in New York City and took some time off to mark the occasion.

She also enjoyed a party at her home in upstate New York, where her entire family was in attendance, except for her sister Hala, who was not feeling well. She shared pictures from the event on social media, writing, “Thank you for all the wonderful birthday wishes!!!! My party was perfect! – Other than my sister being home sick, we missed you Hala.”

Hoda and Savannah have been hosting “Today” together since 2018 and are also good friends in private.

In a previous interview with HELLO, Savannah said of their partnership, “We're grateful every day. I know we're grateful for this partnership and being able to come here and do a job that's literally fun and do that with a good friend that you trust so much and just hold hands and do that together every morning – I'll never get over that. I still can't believe it's come true.”
