Woman dies in tractor accident in rural Seward County

LINCOLN, Nebraska (KLKN) – A woman was killed in a tractor-trailer accident in rural Seward County last week, the sheriff’s office said Thursday.

The accident occurred around 8 a.m. on August 22 at the corner of 238th and Old Mill Road, northeast of Seward.

A tractor turned north at the intersection and collided with an SUV traveling west, the sheriff's office said.

The driver of the SUV, 34-year-old Jamie Calmus of Seward, was taken to a hospital where she later died.

There were also three children in the SUV. They were treated and released at the scene without injuries, according to the sheriff's office.

The tractor driver, a 65-year-old man from Seward, was uninjured.

The sheriff's office said seat belts were worn in the SUV and alcohol was not a factor.

The investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
