Man stabbed to death on train in Washington Heights: Police

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY – A 39-year-old man was stabbed to death on a Line 1 train Wednesday night, police said.

At around 11:15 p.m., police responded to a 911 call about a stabbing at the 191 Street 1 station in Washington Heights, officials said, where they found a man with a stab wound to the chest and a cut on his arm.

The stabbing occurred on the train, police confirmed.

The victim's condition was stable and he was taken to Harlem Hospital, police said.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing. There was no news as of 9am Thursday morning.

The 191 Street station is cavernous—the deepest in the subway system—with a large tunnel. It is located near 191st Street and St. Nicholas Avenue in Washington Heights.

According to PIX11, the victim was sitting on the train when another man approached him. The man allegedly “screamed and yelled” at the victim before stabbing him and then remaining on the train.

PIX11 described the attacker as wearing a red hat, black shirt and carrying a red duffel bag. He reportedly appeared to be around 30 years old.
