Man arrested for numerous attempted arson and criminal damage in Donegal

A man in his 20s was arrested last night in connection with several cases of attempted arson and criminal damage in St. Johnston.

At around 9.45pm on Wednesday, Gardaí received reports of damage to a property in St Johnston.

Later that night, a second report of criminal damage was issued and Gardaí searched the area. St Baithin's Church, the Masonic Hall and the Orange Hall were apparently targeted.

The man was arrested near the scene and taken to a Garda station in the Donegal Division. He is currently being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984. Investigations are ongoing.
