14-year-old killed after chase with Pearland police

Pearland, Texas – A 14-year-old driver was struck and killed during a police chase on Highway 288 late Thursday.

Officers did not disclose why they were pursuing the teenager, but while pursuing him on the north side of the highway near Beltway 8, he crashed his car into the concrete guardrail.

Police say the teen got out of the car and ran across the handicapped vehicle lanes to the other side of the highway. They say they lost him at that point.
