Crime in New York subway: Man injured in moving train with knife in chest and cuts

A 39-year-old man was stabbed and injured on a subway in Washington Heights, New York police said.

The attack occurred around 11:16 p.m. Wednesday on a moving northbound Line 1 train approaching the 191st Street station.

According to police, a verbal argument broke out between the two men, during which one of them was stabbed in the chest and slashed on the left arm.

The victim got off the train and was taken to Harlem Hospital in stable condition. The suspect remained on the train and headed north, police said.

No arrests were made.

Man stabbed to death in Bronx subway

Meanwhile, a man was fatally stabbed after an argument on a Bronx subway over the weekend, police said.

The stabbing occurred around 3 p.m. on the northbound 2 train in the area of ​​East 149 Street and 3rd Avenue in the Melrose neighborhood.

According to police, an argument broke out between the two men, during which the 36-year-old stabbed the 30-year-old in the chest with a knife.

The 30-year-old man was taken to Lincoln Hospital, where he died. The 36-year-old was arrested, police said. A knife was found at the scene.

New York Mayor Eric Adams praised the city's declining crime rate at a press conference last week.

“We've managed to reduce robbery rates for seven consecutive months across the city, particularly in our subway system. That's just impressive considering our robbery rates are at an all-time low,” Adams said.

According to Adams, 17,000 guns have been taken off the streets and 900 illegal tobacco shops have been closed since he took office.
