12 people rescued from party boats on Schuylkill River: Police

Another night of police activity on the Schuylkill River after a boat party had to be ended early.

According to Philadelphia police, two small boats full of people were partying near the Platt Bridge around 12:30 a.m. Thursday.

Suddenly one of the boats began to take on water.

According to authorities, twelve people had to be rescued by coast guard and naval units.

No injuries were reported and police have not yet released any information about why the boat took on water.

The incident occurred just one day after a vehicle rolled into the Schuylkill River after a man and a woman “engaged in sexual acts.”
