Roanoke police shoot man armed with knife

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – A man died Thursday after being shot by Roanoke police, according to Roanoke police.

According to police, officers responded to a domestic dispute at an apartment in the 700 block of 29th Street NW at 12:53 a.m.

Outside the apartment, officers found a woman with a serious stab wound, and inside the apartment they found a man who was still armed with a knife, police said.

According to police, officers ordered the man to drop his weapon, but he refused. The man then approached officers and officers used a taser on him.

The man continued to charge toward police and was fatally shot. The suspect's name was not released.

According to police, no officers were injured in the incident.

The officers involved have been placed on leave while Virginia State Police investigate the shooting.
