13 people thrown from minibus in fatal traffic accident in Fort Worth

FORT WORTH, Texas – Four people were killed and ten others injured in a serious rollover accident involving a minivan near Fort Worth on Wednesday morning.

The accident occurred around 8 a.m. Wednesday on Highway 287 northbound.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) confirmed that 14 people were in the van when the driver veered into the center lane and overcorrected.

All but one of the passengers were thrown from the vehicle. The driver and three others were killed.

Three others had to be flown to hospital in critical condition.

DPS officials said the only person who was not ejected from the van was the only one wearing a seatbelt.

“Of the 14 occupants, only one person was wearing a seat belt,” a DPS official said. “However, that person was able to leave the scene and was transported to a nearby hospital to be evaluated for possible injuries.”

The van came from Florida, but its destination was unclear.
