VFDs and first responders respond to numerous accidents throughout Jones County

JONES COUNTY, Mississippi (WDAM) – Wednesday was a very busy day for Jones County volunteer firefighters, especially with the number of traffic accidents.

The VFDs and other first responders had their hands full as they responded to four different accidents in less than three hours.

The accidents included:

  • Single vehicle accident on Wednesday at 10:12 a.m. near Tower Road 337. One vehicle was taken to the hospital, the pickup truck sustained minor damage. Moselle and Boggy VFDs were on scene, as was the EMS service EMServ Ambulance Service
  • Two-vehicle collision around 11:30 a.m. on Mississippi 128 near US 84. One vehicle was transported to the hospital via EMS. Calhoun, Pleasant Ridge and Soso VFDs responded
  • Single-vehicle crash around 12:30 p.m. near 286 Trace Road. The driver was taken to the hospital with what appeared to be serious injuries. The four-door sedan sustained major damage after it left the road, struck a sewer and overturned. Shady Grove responded, as did EMS and the Jones County Sheriff's Department
  • A few minutes later, two sedans collided on Mississippi 15 near Trace Road. One was taken to the hospital by EMS. Both sedans sustained moderate damage. Sharon and Shady Grove responded, as did JCSD and the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

At each incident, firefighters provided emergency medical care and directed traffic at the scene. Each accident also caused traffic delays on the road while emergency responders worked.
