Manhunt underway for suspect in fatal shooting of college student in Houston

HOUSTON, Texas (KWTX) – Houston police are asking the public for help in identifying a suspect wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a college student.

Although police have not yet officially identified the victim, friends and relatives confirmed to KHOU, the CBS affiliate station in Houston, that she is 21-year-old Muna Pandey.

The young woman moved from Nepal to Texas to study at Houston Community College, the family told KHOU.

The woman was shot in her own home at 6300 West Airport Boulevard. Her body was discovered by patrol officers responding to a 911 call at around 5:35 p.m. on August 26.

Officers found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds in a residential unit and paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Apartment complex staff told officers that prior to calling 911, they received an anonymous call about a dead body in the apartment.

During further investigations, a man captured on a surveillance camera was identified as a “suspect in this case,” police said.

His identity and whereabouts are currently unknown.

Anyone with information regarding the unidentified suspect or this case is asked to contact HPD's Homicide Unit at 713-308-3600 or speak anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
