Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man in a wheelchair was stabbed to death in east London on Wednesday.

According to the Metropolitan Police, officers were called to a fight on Rushmore Road in Clapton at 3.38pm and found a man with a stab wound.

Jade Anthony Barnett, 38, was treated by paramedics but died at the scene, police said.

His sister Simone Barnett described him as a “cheerful and caring” man.

Ms Barnett, 45, from Hackney, said her brother had lived with his mother in Clapton but his friends said he had moved to the Stratford area.

“He’s coming by here [Clapton] all the time, everybody knew my brother – young, old, mothers, fathers, everybody knew my brother,” she said.

“Everyone is part of the family, he is just that character.”

Friends of Mr Barnett said he lost his leg in a motorcycle accident in 2007.

A black and grey electric wheelchair could be seen at the crime scene behind the police cordon near a forensic tent on Wednesday evening.

The wheelchair and tent are located on Overbury Street, surrounded by a housing estate. The barrier extends to Rushmore Road.
