Serious robbery with gunfire on Wednesday afternoon in Jonesboro


JONESBORO, Arkansas – Authorities responded to a 911 call about a shooting in connection with an incident police described as an aggravated robbery just before 5 p.m. Wednesday in Jonesboro.

The incident was first reported to police at 4:50 p.m. on Wednesday, August 28, according to JPD spokesperson Sally Smith. It occurred in the 1700 block of Wembleton. Preliminary information indicated that a homeowner was shot at during an aggravated robbery and the homeowner fired at the suspect(s).

As of 5:40 p.m., there were no reports of injuries in the incident. However, there were reports of property damage. The bullets struck a homeowner's vehicle, Smith said.

Authorities are currently investigating the incident. Few further details are known.
