Man dies on Tuesday after forklift accident at Zachary discount store, store temporarily closed

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (BRPROUD) – Emergency services say a man died after a forklift accident on Tuesday, August 27.

Emergency medical services officials said the incident occurred around 5:20 p.m. Tuesday in the 5400 block of Main Street in Zachary. Zachary police confirmed officers were called to Dirt Cheap. The East Baton Rouge Medical Examiner's Office was also called to the scene, according to emergency medical services.

According to the East Baton Rouge Medical Examiner's Office, the man was identified as 20-year-old Marquavious Hollins Ray. The cause and nature of the incident have yet to be determined through an autopsy on Thursday, officials said.

Dirt Cheap's Facebook page posted on Wednesday, August 28 that the Zachary location is temporarily closed until further notice.
