BLACKPINK's Jisoo in talks to star in upcoming drama Monthly Boyfriend after roles in Newtopia and Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint

BLACKPINK's Jisoo is considering taking on the lead role in the new drama Monthly Boyfriend. As an actress, Jisoo started appearing in music videos while she was still in school. She made her official debut as an actress with Snowdrop, in which she starred alongside Jung Hae In.

On August 29, Osen reported that BLACKPINK's Jisoo was offered the lead role in the upcoming drama Monthly Boyfriend. Jisoo's agency BLISSOO confirmed the report, stating that they had received an offer and were in talks about the project. Further details about the drama have not been announced yet. If Jisoo continues with the project, this would be her fourth acting gig.

Jisoo made an appearance in the hit drama “The Producers” in 2015, which starred IU, Kim Soo Hyun, Gong Hyo Jin, and others. She took on the role of a rookie named Kim Ji Soo. This was her first appearance in a drama.

Snowdrop was Jisoo's first foray into the world of acting for BLACKPINK. She took on the role of Eun Young Ro, the daughter of a politician who lives a simple life in a college dorm with her friends.

Jisoo will star in the upcoming drama “Newtopia” and the film “Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint.”

Newtopia is a fantasy thriller starring Jisoo, Park Jung Min and Kim Joon Han. Jisoo plays the role of Young Ju, who is a freshman and new to society. She finds it difficult to understand her feelings, especially when her boyfriend breaks up with her because he is enlisting for military service. Confused by the situation, she sets out to meet her boyfriend but soon discovers that there is a zombie outbreak. The story is adapted from the novel Influenza by Han Sang Woon.

Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint is a highly anticipated project, especially because of its star-studded cast. Lee Min Ho, Ahn Hyo Seop, Chae Soo Bin, Nana and Shin Seung Ho will appear in the film along with Jisoo. It is scheduled to be released in 2025. The film is based on the web novel Omniscient Reader by Sing N Song.
