Slidell man charged with possession and transportation of child pornography | Courts

A Slidell man accused of possession of child pornography has been indicted in federal court, records show.

Richard Talens was on his way back from Turkey when authorities stopped him after discovering “sexually explicit conduct with minors” on his electronic devices during a security check at customs.

Department of Homeland Security officials arrived at Washington Dulles Airport on August 16, where they spoke with Talens. During the interview, Talens admitted to officials that he had purchased child sexual abuse material online using cryptocurrency, court records show. Talens also admitted to viewing some of the content abroad in Turkey, which led officials to charge him not only with possession but also with transportation of child pornography.

According to court documents, agents found content on Talens' laptop at the airport that showed a man raping a prepubescent girl.

On Aug. 17, authorities also searched Talens' Slidell home in the 400 block of Michigan Avenue and found more of his electronic devices, including a USB drive containing another child pornography video, court records show.

Talens told agents that the videos were a “porn perversion” and an example of “extreme pornography” that he began watching as he grew older, agents wrote in court documents.

Talens told agents he had sexual fantasies about his girlfriend and her 9-year-old sister. He also admitted to talking to a 16-year-old and receiving nude pictures of her on social media.

Talens is awaiting arraignment in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
