Vehicles collide at accident-prone intersection on the West Side

SAN ANTONIO – Surveillance footage captured the moment a vehicle sped through an intersection on the West Side and collided with a car.

The accident occurred on Wednesday around 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Castroville Road and Dahlgreen Avenue.

One vehicle overturned, the other went out of control after the collision and went off the road.

According to San Antonio police, the people involved in the accident are doing well.

On the Westwood Square episode of KSAT's “Know My Neighborhood,” people said that car accidents often occur at the intersection.

A San Antonio Police Department traffic report shows that four accidents occurred at this intersection from January 1, 2023, to June 30, 2023. There were four accidents in all of 2022; there were five in 2021. Most of these incidents are due to driver inattention or failure to yield the right of way.

The City of San Antonio Department of Public Works is currently working on a traffic study of the intersection, which is expected to be completed in the fall.
