Naked man who sexually assaulted woman in park was involved in a series of incidents, police say

Calgary police believe the man involved in a random, sexually motivated incident in early August is the same person responsible for other similar incidents throughout the summer.

Between July 7 and August 13, the police received calls about public nuisance and exposure.

Police said the calls involved the same suspect as in an incident on August 10, when an unknown naked stranger allegedly approached a group of three women walking through Elbow Park in southwest Calgary.

They said the man sexually assaulted one of the women and pushed the other to the ground.

“Victims have reported instances where they were walking on public paths and were startled by a man jumping out of the bushes naked. They have also reported being flashed by a man while walking downtown,” Calgary police said in a statement.

“Investigators believe the suspect is often naked or partially clothed and sneaks around or hides in courtyards, alleys and public green spaces in the late evening and very early morning hours.”

According to police, the suspect is a man in his mid-30s with light to medium skin and medium build, black hair and a beard or stubble.
