Boise State vs. Georgia Southern Prediction, Betting Odds and Watch

After offseason quarterback battles, Boise State and Georgia Southern are ready to start the season with a duel between Group of Five programs.

Maddux Madsen, who started for Boise State last year, beat out USC transfer Malachi Nelson to earn the Broncos' starting job. JC French, who played at Georgia Southern a year ago, was named the Eagles' starting signal caller and Dexter Williams, a transfer from Indiana, will be his replacement.

Now we have to wait and see how the match unfolds on the pitch and whether these teams made the right decision.

Prediction for Boise State vs. Georgia Southern

I expect Boise State to win and cover the spread at -12.5. I also expect the game to be under 56.5 total points.

I'm not entirely sure Madsen will end up being the right choice for Boise State, and we may see him and Nelson on the field at different points this season, but I'm extremely confident about the rest of the Broncos' roster.

On offense, Boise State has the reigning G5 Offensive Player of the Year in Ashton Jeanty, and a strong running game will certainly help Madsen. On defense, the Broncos have many stars on that side of the ball, such as defensive lineman Ahmed Hassanein, linebacker Andrew Simpson and cornerback A'Marion McCoy.

Boise State was considered a favorite for the College Football Playoff, especially when Nelson decided to transfer there. But I don't think opinions on this team will change much since this roster has so many outstanding players. If Boise State can get a handle on the quarterback position, there aren't really any weaknesses.

I believe Georgia Southern is talented as well. The Eagles will be exciting to watch with running back Jalen White and wide receiver Derwin Burgess Jr. on offense and linebacker Marques Watson-Trent and defensive lineman Justin Rhodes on the other side of the ball.

Still, I think Boise State is two touchdowns better than Georgia Southern, even on the road.
