Suspect arrested and charged with murder after man found dead in Plano backyard

PLAN – A suspect is in police custody and has been charged with murder after a man was found dead in Plano on Tuesday.

Plano police and fire departments responded to a 911 call at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday that a person had died in the 4600 block of Bending Oak Trail in Plano.

The man, 69-year-old Patrick King, was in the backyard of the home where police were called, Plano police Lt. Jennifer Chapman said.

The suspect, 39-year-old Andrew James Swetland, was arrested at DFW International Airport at 5:30 a.m. and charged with murder.

Police say Swetland's sister is King's daughter-in-law. Plano police said the shooting was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community.
