ENTERTAINMENT: Cirque Italia brings 'Silver' show to Pine Bluff Arena | The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

The Silver Unit of Cirque Italia presents the story of a farm boy swept away by a tornado who ends up in the middle of the chaos of the city in its latest production, Thursday-Friday 7:30 p.m., Saturday 1:30, 4:30 and 7:30 p.m., Sunday 1:30 and 4:30 p.m. and Monday 7:30 p.m. at Hestand Stadium, 420 N. Blake St., Pine Bluff. The production includes clowns and trampoline, fire, rapid transformation, rope, juggling, hand-to-hand combat, figure skating and swing acts. Tickets are $15-$55. Yes, we can

The Brewery Collectibles Club of America is hosting its 53. CANventionBilled as the world's largest exhibition of beer can and brewery collectibles, it will take place Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Governors Hall of the Statehouse Convention Center and the Marriott Hotel, corner of Markham Street, Little Rock.

CANvention will feature beer cans dating back to 1935 (when the first commercially available beer can was released in Richmond, Virginia), beer advertising (including neon, illuminated and metal signs, taps, mugs, steins and trays), beer-related items from Central Arkansas breweries (including Vino's, Lost Forty, Diamond Bear and Flyway), and collectibles from dozens of Arkansas craft breweries and other breweries and beer brands from around the world.

At the Rusty Bunch Chapter's beer can dump every day, collectors dig through a massive pile of thousands of empty beer cans to collect as many as their hands, boxes, or bags can hold.

Experts and brewery historians will be available to answer questions. Scott Mertie, owner of Nashville Brewing Co. and a longtime historian and author of Southern beers, will lead a seminar open to club members titled “A History of Beer and Southern Brewing” from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday near the convention center's main ballroom.

Admission is $20 both days, and only $10 on Saturday. $10 of the admission price can be applied toward an annual membership to the Brewery Collectibles Club. Visit bcca.com.

'Psycho Beach Party'

The Weekend Theater, 1001 W. Seventh St. at Chester Street, Little Rock, shows “Psycho Beach Party” by Charles Busch, Friday to Saturday, 7:30 p.m., Sunday, 2:30 p.m., until September 15.

Chicklet Forrest (Leo Martinez), a teenage tomboy, desperately wants to be part of the surfing crowd on Malibu Beach in 1962. One obstacle is her unfortunate tendency toward split personalities, which include a black cashier, an elderly radio talk show host, a male model named Steve, and the accounting firm Edelman & Edelman. Her most dangerous alter ego: a sexually insatiable vixen who has nothing less than world domination in mind. Kyra Hatley, Evanee Dra'a Dokes, Phillip Robbs, Dylan Sykes, Amie White Galloway, Todd Breaux, Tylen Loring, and Emily Buchanan complete the cast.
