“I had a difficult moment” – Mikel Landa survives a moment of shock and keeps his hopes of the red jersey at the Vuelta a Espana 2024 alive

On the 11th stage of the Vuelta a Espana 2024, the battle for the red jersey flared up again. For Mikel Landa of Soudal – Quick-Step, it was a solid day despite a small moment of shock on the last climb of the day.

“It was another tough stage,” the Spaniard told Soudal – Quick-Step's official website – afterward. “The breakaway took two hours, then we went full throttle on the last climb as some of the riders in the general classification wanted to gain time. I had a moment of distress, but luckily I found Mattia Cattaneo, who set a good pace and helped me get back to the front.”

“I am happy with the final result and am already thinking about tomorrow's stage,” concluded Landa, who will start the 12th stage in fifth place overall.
