40-year-old Bronson man killed in motorcycle crash on State Road 24

A 40-year-old motorcyclist from Bronson was killed in a crash on State Road 24 in Alachua County Wednesday morning, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

Where did the accident happen?

State Road 24/Archer Road west of Gainesville.

What caused the crash?

According to the FHP press release, the motorcycle and car driven by a 47-year-old woman from Archer collided on State Road 24 “as both attempted to pass other traffic.”

The motorcycle left the road and struck a utility pole. The Bronson man who was operating the motorcycle was taken to UF Health Shands Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Archer woman was not injured.
