Two people injured in attack in London

LONDON, Kentucky (WYMT) – A retired London lawyer and another person were injured after an assault occurred in their home.

Police were called to a home on Heather Way around 11pm on Sunday where Heather Manning was found in the front yard with a gunshot wound.

The two homeowners, Joe T. and Judy Roberts, were found in the house with different injuries.

According to police, Manning broke several items in the house and then caused harm to the Roberts.

Judy Roberts was hospitalized with a punctured lung, broken ribs and possible a fractured shoulder.

Joe T. Roberts was also injured when Manning ripped the telephone off the wall.

Officials cannot say why Manning was there or what her motive was for the attack, but the warrant states that Manning clearly incited Joe T. Roberts to fire the gun that injured Manning.

Police discovered the crime scene after their second call. When officers first arrived, no one came to the door. According to the warrant, this was because the Roberts had been held at gunpoint for three hours at that point and threatened to keep them from opening the door.

Heather Manning is charged with second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and false imprisonment.
