How deadly is Dead Man's Curve?

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – On Monday we reported on ODOT's new funding to begin planning changes to Dead Man's Curve.

They say their plan is to increase safety while allowing cars to move through the area faster.

No date has been set for the start of construction, but the design phase will begin this fall.

Many of you have expressed your opinion on social media and said that you do not think the curve is unsafe.

To be fair and give you answers, we drew the numbers.

According to the Ohio Highway Patrol, there have been 212 traffic accidents in this area in the past five years.

There were no fatalities, but people were seriously injured in six accidents.

According to the map, most of these accidents occurred on a weekday between 3 and 5 p.m.

OSHP also released the number of speeding tickets issued in the area. According to the data, 103 speeding tickets were issued in the last five years.

During this period, there were also 36 speeding accidents in the area.

Only one of these 36 incidents resulted in serious injuries; no deaths were reported.
