Tesla Cybertruck caught fire after hitting a fire hydrant in bizarre accident

A Tesla Cybertruck caught fire after hitting a fire hydrant in a bizarre accident, one of two known Cybertruck fires.

According to official statistics, electric vehicles do not burn more often than vehicles running on fossil fuels. However, they burn for different reasons and have different burning behavior, which requires adaptations from emergency services.

There have also been cases where electric vehicle fires have been caused by battery defects, such as in the case of the Bolt electric vehicle.

Earlier this month, we reported on a tragic fatal accident involving a Cybertruck that resulted in a fire.

Now we hear about another Tesla Cybertruck accident that resulted in a fire. This accident is quite ironic, however, as the driver of the Cybertruck crashed into a fire hydrant.

The accident occurred yesterday afternoon in Harlingen, Texas.

Assistant Fire Chief Ruben Balboa and Harlingen police said the driver of the Cybertruck struck a fire hydrant between Sam's Club and Bass Pro Shop, off Lane 54 and Bass Pro Drive.

A video of the episodes was posted on Reddit:

The fire department was able to extinguish the fire quickly, but it is said to have broken out again. Valley Central local news reported:

First responders said they thought they had extinguished the flames from the Cybertruck, but shortly after they stopped the water supply to the battery, the fire broke out again.

Authorities reported no injuries in connection with this accident.
