Luxembourg woman pleads guilty to child abuse

KEWAUNEE, Wis. (WBAY) – A Luxembourg woman accused in a 2021 child abuse case that a doctor said was the worst he had ever seen pleaded guilty to three counts Wednesday.

Dawn Jimenez, 39, pleaded guilty to the crimes of physical abuse of a child, chronic neglect of a child resulting in serious bodily injury, and emotional harm to a child.

As part of the settlement, the assault charge was reduced to a Class C felony, meaning she faces a maximum prison sentence of 40 years instead of 60. Prosecutors also dropped two other charges: first-degree reckless assault and aggravated assault with intent to cause great bodily harm.

It is the same agreement she made with her co-defendant Alan Finch earlier this year.

As we reported, a Green Bay hospital alerted the Kewaunee County Sheriff's Office in October 2021 after treating a severely beaten, unconscious child. The child was taken to Children's Wisconsin in Milwaukee in critical condition. A doctor told investigators he had never seen such a severe case in his 25-year career.

Accordingly Kewaunee County Sheriff's OfficeIn October 2021, a Green Bay hospital notified officials that a severely beaten, unconscious child had been seen and needed to be flown to Children's Wisconsin in Milwaukee in critical condition.

At the hearing, Judge David Weber heard from Jimenez's ex-husband, with whom she has children, and the victim's aunt.

Jimenez will be sentenced on November 26. She would face more than 77 years in prison if she receives the maximum sentence on each charge. Finch was sentenced to 25 years.
