Angry Pelosi called Trump an ‘enemy within’ after January 6 attack

WASHINGTON – According to CNN, an angry Nancy Pelosi called Donald Trump an “enemy within” after a mob of his supporters stormed the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

According to CNN and NBC, Pelosi's comments are contained in footage shot by her daughter, documentary filmmaker Alexandra Pelosi, and recently delivered to Congress.

In one of the clips, Nancy Pelosi, then-Speaker of the House of Representatives, said she was sickened by what Trump “did to the Capitol and to the country today,” CNN reported.

“There is a price he must pay for this,” she added as she left the Capitol in the early hours of January 7, 2021.

The Capitol insurrection delayed the certification of President Joe Biden's 2020 election victory when thousands of violent Trump supporters, driven by his lies about a stolen election, overpowered police and stormed the Capitol.

The Democratic-controlled House of Representatives later impeached Trump – who had since left office – for his role in the riots and his attempt to overturn the election results. He was acquitted in the Senate.

Trump faces a federal indictment brought by Justice Department special counsel Jack Smith, as well as a state indictment in the state of Georgia over his efforts to overturn his 2020 election loss.

In the footage provided to Congress, Pelosi referred to Trump as an “enemy within the White House,” according to CNN. “Let's not mince our words on this issue.”

A day after the attack on the Capitol, Pelosi described the January 6 attack as an “attempted coup.”

“My friends, we are in a very difficult situation in our country as long as Donald Trump is still in the White House,” said the Democrat from California.
