The historical action K-drama Queen Woo will premiere this week with part 1 on TVING. In the highly anticipated series, the experienced actor Ji Chang-Wook as Go Nam-Mu, also known as King Gogukcheon of Goguryeo. The Wedding Impossible actress will also star. Jeon Jong-Seowho will play the role of Woo Hee, also known as Queen U of Goguryeo.

Jung Se-Kyo directed the upcoming Korean series, which was written by Lee Byeong-Hak. He previously directed the 2020 film Oh! My Gran and served as an assistant director on several other notable films, such as War of the Arrows, Perfect Game, Goodbye Mom, and Like Father, Like Son.

Queen Woo K-Drama: Release Date on TVING

TVING recently released a preview trailer for Queen Woo on Instagram, announcing the release date of the two parts of the drama on the streaming platform. Part 1 of the historical K-drama will premiere on TVING on Thursday, August 29, 2024The second part of the series is expected to be released on 12 September in the same network.

The preview offers glimpses of a fierce war, with King Gogukcheon of Goguryeo boosting the motivation of his soldiers just before battle. As seen in the trailer, a gruesome clash between the two sides ends in bloodshed and many casualties. For viewers who like historical dramas with violence, Queen Woo is just the ticket.

Queen Woo K-Drama: Cast and Plot

As mentioned, actor Ji Chang-Wook will play one of the main roles, Go Nam-Mu, in Queen Woo. Aside from being the King of Goguryeo, he is known for his strong will and incredible martial arts skills. He is married to Queen U of Goguryeo. Meanwhile, viewers will see actress Jeon Jong-Seo in the role of Woo Hee, also known as Queen U of Goguryeo. She is known for her intelligence and beauty.

Apart from them, the main cast list of the upcoming K-drama also includes Kim Mu-Yeol as Eul Pa-So, Jeong Yu-Mi as Woo Sun, Park Ji-Hwan as Mugol, and Lee Soo-Hyuk as Go Bal-Gi. The supporting cast of the series includes Jeon Bae-Soo, Kim Do-Yoon, Jo Han-Chul, Lee Hae-Woo, Jung Jae-Kwang, Kang Young-Seok, Song Jae-Rim, and many more.

Queen Woo tells the fascinating and epic story of Queen U of Goguryeo, who made history as the first woman to reign as queen twice. After the sudden death of the King of Goguryeo, Woo Hee's husband, a crisis ensues. Moreover, the queen must take immediate action to end the chaos.

Thus, she becomes the main target of several princes and the five tribes. They are all hungry for more power and willing to do anything to obtain it. The queen has the sole responsibility of protecting her tribe and family. To protect them, she must follow the custom of levirate marriage. While she must overcome several difficult challenges to marry one of her late husband's younger brothers, she must bring one of them to the throne. However, Woo Hee only has 24 hours to accomplish everything.
