UPDATE: ATV accident victim identified

CASSIAN – The victim of an ATV accident on Aug. 25 has been identified as Jay T. Zeivel, 66, of Hazelhurst.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office reported that the SUV apparently failed to negotiate a turn and struck a telephone pole on Lakewood Road near Sand Lake Road in the town of Cassian.

Witnesses attempted to save the man's life, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim's name has not yet been released.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is currently completing the accident report. The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by Cassian first responders, Oneida County EMS, DNR, Minocqua Police Department and the Oneida County Medical Examiner's Department.
