Wethersfield High School graduate found dead in national park

WETHERSFIELD, CT/WEST GLACIER, MONT. — A 32-year-old Wethersfield High School graduate who lived in Montana was found dead in a national park after falling while hiking, according to authorities.

Grant Marcuccio, 32, of Whitefish, Montana, was found dead in Glacier National Park on Sunday after disappearing while hiking on Aug. 18, U.S. National Park Service officials said in a news release.

According to several news outlets, including WVIT Channel 30, Marcuccio is a Wethersfield native and graduated from WHS.

While Marcuccio's cause of death remains under investigation, National Park Service officials said the man's injuries were consistent with a fall.

According to authorities, Marcuccio was last seen by his hiking group on Sunday, August 18, around 1 p.m.

Officials said he had become separated from the people he was with and had planned to meet them at a specific location in the park.

“Rangers were alerted by the hiking group on Sunday evening that Marcuccio had never reached the meeting point,” the National Park Service said in a statement.
