Chris Pine stars in the Italian drama “The Kidnapping of Arabella”

Chris Pine enters the Italian film scene with a new role in The Abduction of Arabella, directed by Carolina Cavalli. Pine is known for his captivating performances in Star Trek and Wonder Woman, and his latest project represents a significant addition to his diverse filmography.

Production on the film has just begun in the picturesque regions of northern Italy, including Veneto and Emilia Romagna. Chris Pine stars alongside Benedetta Porcaroli as a young woman who feels disconnected from her life until a life-changing encounter with a 7-year-old girl changes her perspective. This role extends Porcaroli's successful partnership with Cavalli, which dates back to their acclaimed debut film, Amanda.

“Amanda,” which won the Orizzonti Extra section at the 2022 Venice Film Festival and also screened at the Toronto International Film Festival, showcased Porcaroli’s talent as an isolated woman who reunites with a childhood friend. Pine’s recent notable works include “Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves” and “Poolman.”

Produced by Elsinore Film and Fremantle-based The Apartment, the film benefits from the experience of producers Antonio Celsi and Annamaria Morelli. With its picturesque Italian setting and a strong cast, The Kidnapping of Arabella will attract attention for both its artistic merit and its all-star cast.
