The Chase's Paul Sinha talks about 'worst week of his life' after health scare | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Paul Sinha, famous for his role in The Chase, has spoken about going through “the worst week of my life” amid serious health problems.

In a candid conversation on Good Morning Britain, the 54-year-old quizmaster talked about the particularly difficult time in which he struggled with health problems, including the diagnosis of Parkinson's disease.

Speaking to Charlotte Hawkins and Richard Madeley, he revealed that he had been in a serious situation over the past year after suffering two heart attacks during his performance at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August 2023 – a fact that had been kept secret within his inner circle until recently.

When Charlotte asked him about his health on the show, she enquired: “This isn't your only health battle, is it? I know you had to pull out of your performances at the Edinburgh Fringe because of a heart attack, right? You've had bypass surgery now, how are you?”

Paul responded and talked about his problems: “It was a tough 12 months, everything was fine. But in December I had the worst week of my life when I was in hospital for bypass surgery. It was an exceptionally dramatic week for me.”

“You have to keep fighting, keep fighting, you really have no other choice. People often call you brave, I'm not brave, I'm just pragmatic, positive and try to keep going and keep moving forward.”

Regarding his health routine, Paul noted, “It is very important that you take the medications as your doctor prescribes. Take them regularly.”

The star also said that his work on “The Chase” and his stand-up comedy performances helped him in his recovery, the Mirror reported.

Speaking candidly to The Telegraph about his health struggles, Paul admitted that he may have been pushing himself too hard and not getting enough rest. He confessed: “I should have taken a big break, but I kept performing. The reason I want to share my story is because I really believe that artists need to think more about taking better, more holistic care of themselves.”

Paul is not letting his health issues stop him from staying active and busy. He says: “I don't feel like I've fully recovered but my schedule is really busy. The decision about Edinburgh depends on so many factors, of which heart health is just one. Whatever happens, I will only return with a show that I'm proud of.”
