Milwaukee man stabbed his brother, criminal complaint says

A Milwaukee brother admitted to stabbing and killing his brother after they argued over a damaged television, according to a criminal complaint filed against him.

Anslem Ike, 25, is charged with second-degree manslaughter in connection with the death of 27-year-old Kingsley Ike on August 22.

The Milwaukee County Coroner's Office identified Kingsley as the victim on Friday, but it was not until charges were filed on Tuesday that the relationship between the victim and the suspect became known.

Anslem, 25, made his first court appearance Tuesday morning, where bail was set at $10,000.

According to the indictment, police found Anslem in a group of bystanders while responding to a 911 call on West Villard Avenue, where the two were temporarily staying with their parents. Bystanders told police Anslem admitted to them that he did it, and he was arrested.

According to the complaint, police found a knife on the ground nearby, which authorities later said Anslem used.

In a police interview cited in the document, Anslem admitted to stabbing his brother twice after confronting Kingsley about damaging his television, which Anslem believed was his brother's fault. An argument ensued and the two fought outside, with Anslem brandishing the knife and Kingsley unarmed.

Anslem told police he was beaten twice and stabbed his brother, the complaint states.

The Journal Sentinel could not immediately reach the family for comment.

Ike's death was one of 93 reported homicides in Milwaukee this year, according to Milwaukee Police Department crime data. That's 17% fewer than this time last year and 36% fewer than this time in 2022.

Homicides by knife are rare in Milwaukee. According to the Milwaukee Homicide Review Commission, there have been three homicides by knife through June 3.
