2 people shot in Hialeah murder-suicide; 3-year-old child unharmed – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

HIALEAH, FLA. (WSVN) – Two people were found dead in a Hialeah apartment in what appears to be a murder-suicide.

Hialeah police are investigating a domestic incident that escalated into a murder-suicide at an apartment at 605 West 68th Street in Hialeah on Tuesday.

Police said they received a call from the deceased woman's sister around 6 p.m. She had not heard from her sister for days and was worried.

Before calling the police, the sister came to the apartment and knocked on the door. There was no answer, but she heard a child inside.

When the officers arrived, they had to force entry into the apartment because no one was answering. Inside the apartment they discovered a dead man and a dead woman. A three-year-old boy was in the apartment at the time and was unharmed.

“She knocked on the door, got no answer, but heard a child inside. That's when she called the police. When officers arrived, we had to force entry into the apartment and discovered a dead man and woman inside. Fortunately, the three-year-old child was not injured,” said Lieutenant Eddie Rodriguez of the Hialeah Police Department.

The child was taken to hospital as a precaution. The Ministry for Children and Families is intervening to help the child.

While police were investigating, the coroner and investigators were seen entering and leaving the apartment. A friend of the deceased woman also arrived at the scene and was devastated to hear the terrible news.

The police have not released the names of the deceased or their family relationships, but stated that they were the child's parents.
