Car accident with pedestrian in Port Arthur: Victim seriously injured

Port Arthur — Port Arthur Police are investigating a car-pedestrian crash that left one person seriously injured.

PAPD, fire and emergency medical services rushed to the 3900 block of Gulfway near the Hospitality Center around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday evening.

They found an injured pedestrian lying on the ground.

First responders requested a rescue helicopter, but a crew from Houston could not arrive and a crew from Kinder, Louisiana, would have taken about 50 minutes.

The city ambulance took the pedestrian to CHRISTUS St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.

The driver stopped after the accident.

The police have initiated wiretapping measures, collected evidence and spoken to witnesses.
