2 men charged with manslaughter in Williams Lake, BC, stabbing

Two men have been charged with manslaughter in connection with the death of a teenager on May 5, 2022 in Williams Lake, BC.

Richard (Richie) Todd, 19, was fatally stabbed on Midnight Drive around 11 p.m. PT, RCMP said Saturday. Williams Lake is about 550 kilometers northeast of Vancouver.

Nearly two years after Todd's death, 26-year-old Michael Bauer and 25-year-old Garrett Shirey were charged with manslaughter in connection with the stabbing.

Bauer, from Williams Lake, and Shirey, from Houston, about 1,050 kilometers northwest of Vancouver, are now in police custody.

According to RCMP, they are scheduled to appear in Williams Lake Provincial Court on May 6.

Todd was found seriously injured and died in hospital on May 5, 2022. Police said at the time that they believed he was the victim of a targeted attack.

The RCMP is asking anyone with information to contact them.
