Two men from northern Indiana were killed over the weekend in a gas leak at a home in Fort Myers Beach, Florida.

The police assume that a “severed exhaust hose from the pool pump” was responsible for the leak.

A neighbor called 911 on Saturday night. He found one of the victims in the house and said he could smell a strong natural gas.

Jack Faler and Michael Dewitt were already dead when rescue workers arrived. Dewitt was firmly convinced that they were the owner of the house.

Both men are said to have ties to Kosciusko County: Dewitt once owned a business in Warsaw and Faler's family lived in Syracuse.

Dewitt's business was The Car Company, a now-closed store and dealership on U.S. 30.
