Scotty McCreery cancels concert after seeing a man attack a woman

Country music star and American Idol Season 10 winner Scotty McCreery abruptly stopped his concert at the Colorado State Fair over the weekend after witnessing a man in the crowd allegedly attack a woman.

Videos shared on social media by attendees at the event show the “It Matters to Her” singer pausing his performance of the song – which he told the crowd was his wife's favorite – for over two minutes while he challenged the man and waited for help from authorities.

“Here, this is a woman you just hit, sir,” McCreery, 30, can be heard saying in the video. “Absolutely not, who just hit the woman? Police? Security? Is she OK? Get out of here.”

“For heaven's sake. At a Scotty McCreery show? What are you doing?” the singer said on stage as concertgoers pointed at the man. “Tell the cop who hit the woman. This is absolutely unacceptable.”

He then asked the crowd if everything was OK, adding, “That's the definition of a coward, hitting a woman. Get out of here, man.” From there, McCreery continued the show. Representatives for the singer did not immediately respond. Weekly entertainment Request for comment.

It's unclear if the man involved in the alleged altercation was arrested. Colorado State Fair officials confirmed the incident in a statement to EW on Tuesday.

“We can confirm that an incident occurred at the Scotty McCreery concert where a man assaulted a woman and the artist stopped the show,” said Olga Robak, communications director for the Colorado Department of Agriculture. “Colorado State Fair security personnel assisted with crowd control. This incident remains under investigation and we cannot provide any further comment.”
