Former Nuggets coach reacts to Russell Westbrook's statement on jersey drama

Former Nuggets coach reacts to Russell Westbrook's statement on jersey drama

Russell Westbrook hasn't even played a game for the Denver Nuggets and he's already at the center of a drama that had nothing to do with him.

Harrison Wind reported today that Russell Westbrook will wear number four for the Nuggets because Christian Braun refused to give him number zero.

This report was immediately denied by Westbrook, who claimed that these conversations with Christian Braun never took place.

“CB and I never discussed him passing on the number 0. I did not want the number 0, did not ask for it, or request it because I chose to mark this new change with a 'new' number.”

Westbrook's advocacy for Braun was not only received positively by NBA fans around the world, but also by former Denver Nuggets head coach George Karl.

β€œTHIS is exactly the kind of thing that has always made me a fan of Russell Westbrook,” Karl said on social media.

Little moments like these mean a lot in the NBA. It's these little moments that make so many around the league call Russell Westbrook their favorite teammate of all time. It's why so many players like Paul George and Nikola Jokic are willing to step up for him. Hopefully their belief in Westbrook will pay off with another championship for the Denver Nuggets.
