Three-vehicle accident on US 6 near Dogwood, three with minor injuries

Marshall County police investigated a three-vehicle crash on U.S. 6 near Dogwood Road shortly after 5 p.m. Monday.

A 2017 GMC Sierra driven by 37-year-old Lisa Miller of Nappanee was traveling west on US 6 approaching Dogwood Road behind a 2024 Toyota Camry and a 2002 Toyota Avalon.

Joseph Mills, 86, of Rochester, was driving the Camry and Ricky Molden, 57, of Bremen, was driving the Toyota. They were both stopped on westbound U.S. 6 and were waiting to turn south onto Dogwood Road.

Miller told police she looked down briefly and when she looked back up, she saw that the two vehicles in front of her had stopped. She was unable to avoid the collision and drove into the Camary, which was pushed into the Toyota. All occupants were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Marshall County Police were assisted at the scene by Bremen Police, Fire and EMS and Nappanee Fire and EMS.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only a reasonable suspicion to believe that a crime has been committed. Defendants are presumed innocent throughout the trial and are entitled to legal representation and to a jury trial, where the State is required to present evidence beyond a reasonable doubt before a verdict of guilt can be entered.
