Accident sends grandmother and grandson to hospital

CINCINNATI (WXIX) – An accident in front of an elementary school sent a grandmother and her five-year-old grandson to the hospital on Tuesday.

The family is asking people to slow down near schools after the grandmother suffered a broken hand and the five-year-old was injured when they were struck by another car on Bridgetown Road near JF Dulles Elementary School around 12:30 p.m.

Chelsea Brewer, whose son and mother were involved in the accident, called it a nightmare situation.

“I was freaking out and stuff,” Brewer said. “That's what you always do as a mother. That's what you always feel.”

Brewer said her mother and son were briefly hospitalized but are now home.

A video from the scene showed the accident. Brewer's father said he quickly arrived at the scene and saw Green Township police officers handcuffing a man.

Both cars suffered severe front-end damage. A school bus was also damaged.

The accident occurred a week after Green Township police posted an alert on social media urging drivers to slow down as the school year begins.
