Shooting at Allen Mall: Lawsuit filed against owner and security provider of Allen Premium Outlets

Families of some of the victims of a mass shooting at Allen Premium Outlets have filed a lawsuit claiming safety concerns before the shooting were ignored.

In May 2023, a gunman opened fire at the popular mall, killing eight people and injuring seven others before a police officer killed the gunman.

The lawsuit, filed this week, alleges that the mall's owner, Simon Property Group, and security provider Allied Universal knew the high risk of incidents at the mall and failed to provide adequate staff.

The complaint also named the hotel where the shooter was staying.

They say he spent months plotting and hoarding weapons in his room.

The mall's owner has not released a response to the lawsuit.

The security service provider said it would not comment on pending litigation.
