Friends and relatives mourn the loss of a Perth “family man” who died in a tragic motorcycle accident in the Philippines as he was preparing to return home

Friends and relatives of Perth native Jayme Altieri are mourning after the 41-year-old died in a tragic motorcycle accident shortly before returning home from a trip to the Philippines.

Mr Altieri was on his way home from a dinner in the Philippines' Bohol province on August 18 when he suffered fatal head trauma in an accident.

The 41-year-old is said to have been wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

Tragically, the accident occurred on his last day in the Philippines. The next day, the 41-year-old was scheduled to fly back to Western Australia to resume work.

Speaking to 7NEWS, Altieri's brother Scott said the news of his death was “a massive shock and a huge loss to the family.”

Describing his sibling as a “madman” who loved the adrenaline rush of extreme sports, he revealed that the 41-year-old was a successful skydiver, base jumped from some of the tallest buildings in the world and regularly took part in wingsuit races.

“Whenever he had an idea in his head, you couldn’t stop him,” his brother said.

Despite his love of thrills, Mr. Altieri will also be remembered as a “family man” who cared deeply for his parents and seven siblings.

Relatives said the 41-year-old “always put family first,” adding that he would be remembered for his “cheeky smile, big tequila intake and sense of fun.”

Friends also paid tribute to Mr Altieri on social media, with one describing the experience of knowing him as a “privilege” while describing their shock at his sudden loss.

“We will miss you brother. Rest in peace,” they wrote.

“Jayme Altieri, like me, was very outgoing and took each day as if it were his last. Rest in peace brother. You will be sorely missed by so many of us,” said another.

The 41-year-old is a Rockingham-born FIFO rope-entry boilermaker and has spent much of his life travelling throughout North America, Europe and Asia.

He lived abroad for several extended periods of time and friends and relatives said he considered the world his playground.

A memorial service for Mr Altieri will be held on September 8th between 1pm and 5pm at the Rockingham Naval Association.

A memorial video highlighting moments from the 41-year-old's life will be shown during the service. Brother Scott encourages anyone with memories to share them on a special Facebook page.

“Nothing is off limits because we all know it wasn't off limits with him. I'm going to go through everything and prepare it so we can show it at his wake,” he said.

In addition, there is a fundraiser for anyone who would like to help the family after his death and assist with the repatriation costs.
