Acrobat suffers terrible accident during Cirque du Soleil performance

Portland, Oregon – Acrobat Mariia Konfektova is one of the biggest stars of the world-famous Cirque du Soleil, but during a performance at the weekend she suffered a terrible Accident.

The 23-year-old enchanted the audience with her spectacular stunts on Saturday during the KOOZA show in Portland, Oregon.

But suddenly the audience fell silent as Konfektova floated in an aerial hoop several meters above the ground and lost control before falling to the ground.

“It's very surprising and shocking to see something like this,” Brian Goldstein, one of the circus-goers, told ABC News.

He was sitting very close to the ring with his two children when the accident happened and he remembered it being “very scary” for his daughter.

His young son Benjamin had filmed the stunt with his cell phone and captured the fall, which he initially thought was part of the show.

But when he saw the horror on the faces of everyone involved, he quickly changed his mind.

After the dramatic incident, the show was interrupted for around 20 minutes. Paramedics took care of the acrobat, who was lying on the ground in an unclear condition.

However, when the Russian star was finally carried out of the ring, little Benjamin could see her giving the audience a thumbs up. Then the show went on.

Afterwards, Cirque du Soleil thanked the audience on Facebook for the many good wishes for their artist.

Konfektova announced on Instagram on Sunday that she was doing well.
