Three Wasatch High School students in hospital after e-bike accident

Corporal Luis Silva of the Utah Highway Patrol said the accident occurred around 7:30 p.m. Monday at State Route 113 and 300 East in Midway.

The three teens were riding an e-bike together when they pulled in front of an Acura RDX. Silva said the driver was unable to stop in time and collided with the teens.

“Two of the girls on the e-bike were taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance, one was flown out by helicopter. Their condition is currently stable,” he said.

No one was charged for the accident, but Silva said the e-bike did not have the right of way when it attempted to make a U-turn and collided with the SUV.

Silva said all three teenagers were wearing helmets at the time of the accident.

The road was closed for approximately 45 minutes while officers investigated the incident. The Acura driver remained on scene and cooperated during the investigation.

Wasatch High School issued a statement Tuesday morning informing staff and students of the accident. The school reported that there are counselors available to assist students with emotional issues and encouraged them to come forward if they want to talk about the accident.
