A severe weather warning is currently in effect for 29 counties in western and central Lower Michigan.

A line of thunderstorms is intensifying as it reaches the western edge of Lower Michigan. This line of storms will have individual storm cells that will intensify beyond severe levels, producing isolated 70 mph gusts, 1.5 inch diameter hailstones, and possibly even a tornado or two.

Here are the counties included in the severe weather warning: ALLEGAN, BARRY, BENZIE, CALHOUN, CLARE, CLINTON, CRAWFORD, EATON, GRAND TRAVERSE, GRATIOT, IONIA, ISABELLA, KALAMAZOO, KALKASKA, KENT, LAKE, MANISTEE, MASON, MECOSTA, MISSAUKEE, MONTCALM, MUSKEGON, NEWAYGO, OCEANA, OSCEOLA, OTTAWA, ROSCOMMON, VAN BUREN AND WEXFORD

The severe weather warning runs until 8 p.m.

Primary hazards include isolated damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph, isolated large hail showers up to 1.5 inches in diameter, and a tornado or two. Several storm lines are expected to move east-southeast across western/inland Michigan this afternoon into early evening, with damaging winds and some hail possible.
