Suspect arrested in fatal knife attack in Wilkes-Barre, Maine

WILKES-BARRE – A man wanted for his alleged role in the fatal stabbing of Scott Edward Knox in May is in prison in the state of Maine.

Chief Judge Flenory, 23, last known address 38 N. Sherman St., Wilkes-Barre, was arrested Monday by Dexter police on drug charges, according to the Penobscot County, ME, Sheriff's Office.

During the booking process, a correctional officer noticed unusual behavior from Flenory, who identified himself under a different name.

When Maine correctional officials learned Flenory's true identity, a records check revealed an arrest warrant issued by the Wilkes-Barre Police Department charging him with manslaughter.

“The attention to detail of correctional officers prevented this man from potentially being released on bail or placed in a lower security level where he could have harmed others,” the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

The press release lists Flenory’s address as Exeter, Maine.

Wilkes-Barre police court documents allege that Flenory was with Knox and took control of Knox's car around 3:30 a.m. on May 7 and drove into an alley behind the Mofon Lounge at the corner of Carey Avenue and Academy Street.

According to court documents, Flenory met with Jaime B. Knights, 63, of West River Street, and Fernando Bracero, 30, in the alley to confront Knox about a previous drug deal gone wrong.

Knox was attacked by the group while surveillance cameras recorded Bracero charging and stabbing Knox, according to court documents.

Knox broke free and ran until he collapsed on the back porch of a residence in the 300 block of North River Street, where police found him. Knox was taken to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, where he died shortly after arrival.

Knights was captured on July 25 in Bath, NY.

Knights and Bracero are being held without bail at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility on charges of manslaughter and criminal conspiracy to commit robbery.

Flenory is accused of manslaughter, robbery and criminal conspiracy.
