Man dies after boat capsizes in Grand Canyon National Park

PHOENIX – A man has died after his boat capsized during a boating trip in the Grand Canyon over the weekend.

The National Park Service said the 80-year-old man fell into the Colorado River near Fossil Rapid after the boating accident on Sunday.

Park officials received an emergency call from a commercial river cruise company around 3:40 p.m. informing them of the situation.

According to the report, the man was resuscitated.

Park rangers were flown in by helicopter, but all resuscitation attempts failed.

The National Park Service is investigating this death in conjunction with the Coconino County Coroner. No further details have been released.
