Consequences of Russian missile and drone attacks on Ukraine | News about the Russia-Ukraine war

Russia has launched missile and drone attacks on several Ukrainian regions for the second day in a row, killing at least five people.

Two people were killed when a hotel in the central city of Kryvyi Rih was “obliterated” by a missile, regional officials said on Tuesday. Three people died in drone strikes on the southeastern city of Zaporizhia.

On Monday, Russia attacked Ukraine's energy infrastructure with more than 200 missiles and drones.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Tuesday that Kyiv would take retaliatory measures and called on allies to consider joint air defense operations and provide long-range weapons capabilities.

The Ukrainian Air Force said it shot down five of 10 Russian missiles and 60 of 81 drones in Tuesday's attacks. It added that it had lost track of 10 more drones that probably crashed somewhere on Ukrainian territory. One drone entered Belarusian territory; 10 more were still flying in Ukrainian airspace on Tuesday morning, it said.

Russia's Defense Ministry told the Interfax news agency that its forces carried out an overnight attack on Ukraine using high-precision weapons. Moscow has denied carrying out attacks on civilians since launching a large-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, despite thousands being killed.

In the Ukrainian capital Kiev, the military administration said that air defenses had shot down all targets aimed at the city. There were no injuries and two small fires caused by debris were extinguished by rescue workers, local authorities said.

Two civilians may still be under the rubble of the hotel in Kryvyi Rih and five were injured in the attack, Serhiy Lisak, the governor of the Dnipropetrovsk region, where Kryvyi Rih is located, said on Telegram.

Three people were injured in the Zaporizhia region and four others were injured in a rocket attack on the northeastern Kharkiv region overnight, local authorities said.
